Day One: Giza Pyramids & the Grand Egyptian Museum

Grand Egyptian Museum
Grand Egyptian Museum

Your Egypt adventure begins where history itself began — the Giza Plateau, home to the legendary Great Pyramid of Khufu, the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World. You’ll explore the three iconic pyramids — Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure — before continuing to the Valley Temple of Khafre and the unforgettable Great Sphinx. There’s plenty of time for photos, and if you’d like, an optional camel ride across the desert sands.

From Giza, we head to the Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum in the world, home to thousands of artifacts including treasures from Tutankhamun’s tomb. Prefer the classic experience? We can visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square instead. Wrap up the day with an optional lunch and some time for shopping.

Highlights:

  • Flexible hotel pick-up from 6:30 AM
  • Giza Plateau tour
  • The Great Pyramid of Khufu
  • Panoramic viewpoint over all three pyramids
  • The Valley Temple of Khafre
  • The Great Sphinx of Giza
  • Grand Egyptian Museum (main galleries + Tutankhamun exhibition)
  • Optional: camel ride (up to 30 minutes), lunch, shopping stop

Day Two: Saqqara & Dahshur — Egypt’s First Pyramids

The Bent Pyramid, Dahshur
The Bent Pyramid, Dahshur

Step back even further in time at Saqqara, the birthplace of pyramid-building in Egypt. Long before Giza existed, this is where the idea of the pyramid was first conceived — and today, we go beyond the classic photo stop at the Step Pyramid to explore tombs and chambers most visitors never see. This isn’t a rushed, tick-the-box tour; it’s an unhurried walk through Egypt’s oldest royal necropolis, with 5,000 years of history laid out beneath your feet.

We begin at the pyramid complex of King Djoser, and — access permitting — step inside the Step Pyramid itself to see its ancient underground passages. From there, we visit the Pyramid of Unas or Teti, along with the richly decorated tombs of Old Kingdom officials nearby, home to some of the finest relief carvings in Egypt — and a fraction of the crowds you’ll find at Giza.

In the afternoon, we travel south to Dahshur, site of two pyramids central to Egyptian history: the Bent Pyramid, a striking example of ancient builders adjusting their design mid-construction, and the Red Pyramid, widely regarded as Egypt’s first true, smooth-sided pyramid. Both sites are far less visited than Giza, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace.

Highlights:

  • Flexible hotel pick-up from 7:30 AM
  • King Djoser’s Pyramid complex
  • Inside the Step Pyramid
  • Pyramid of Unas or Teti
  • Tombs of the Old Kingdom officials
  • Dahshur: the Bent Pyramid
  • Dahshur: the Red Pyramid
  • Optional: shopping, lunch

Optional Upgrade:
